Your system needs digital input and we have you covered. The Peachtree Audio DAC·iT is a D-to-A converter designed to bring your audio system into the new millennium using the computer you already own. Optimized for computer and streaming audio music devices, the DAC·iT features the three most important digital inputs, USB for your computer, optical and coaxial for any other type of streamer or CD/DVD player. All three inputs take advantage of the high-resolution ESS Sabre32 9022 DAC chip and hot-rodded analog output section. This eliminates the need for expensive sound cards and effectively replaces the weak analog output section built in to streaming devices. For a little added convenience, a remote control with discreet input selection is included with the DAC·iT. Unlike CD transports, computers and streaming devices tend to present a rather harsh musical environment with a unique set of challenges. The Peachtree DAC·iT is specifically designed for this environment and is optimized to handle these challenges. 1) The DAC is galvanically isolated, which is necessary when dealing with electrical noise generated by a computer's

Let me be clear. I'm a turntable kind of guy (SME 20/3). I've had this audiophile disease for over forty years. I've sunk a fortune into these man toys and only ventured into computer audiophilia reluctantly in the last year. What a great surprise this turn and something that can be done well with sane and reasonably priced purchases. I still play CDs believing that my Ayre player is a much better source than files through Amarra, JRMC, or any other approach to the big rig.
Why then the Peachtree DACiT? Because I'm still a radio guy and internet radio is a gas. Nothing beats the bliss of hearing a great song for the very first time. What a wonderful surprise. Internet radio is mostly compromised files so how much improvement could I expect. It would be nuts for me to acquire one of the magabuck top tier DACs for this, right.
I stream through a Logitech Squeezebox Touch. What a tremendous value and excellent performer. It could use a little help though and thats where the DACiT comes in. Immediately upom first use, listening to WQXR at 128kbps, blacker backgrounds and the upper mids and highs have lost their hardness, allowing for more detail and goodby listener fatigue
I streamed a WAV file of Kind of Blue to see what this little box could do with a better file. Nothing like Coltrane's horns, for their soulfulness and their tone for revealing limitations in equipment. The Peachtree is very good. Very good. But don't take my word for it. Who admits they made a mistake? Read the rave review in Computer Audiophile or the review in Digital Audio Review. The Peachtree DACiT is an adult DAC. It's late February 2012. There's a new internet darling out there. It maybe as good as the buzz. Reading reviews and opinions very carefully suggest to me that this darling is hyper-detailed which could lead to fatique and upgraditis. This box just adds to my enjoyment. It is sanely priced and is quite at home in better systems. I guess it would work well with those headphone things. But what do I know.

I use to own a bunch of Hi-End stuff at one time or another, including Benchamrk dac, HRT, Musical Fidelity, Nuforce and Primaluna gear. However, I was never so much impressed with any single piece of equipment as I'm now with DAC-iT. It changed the sound of my system in the same way as if you'd suddenly heard a live performance instead of the mp3 recording. Needless to say I'm selling my Musical Fidelity DAC now. Even though M.F. DAC 2 was better than HRT streamer, sweet and musical, there was no comparison to DAC-iT. Using macmini as a music server and oppo dvd as a transport I'm in audio nirvana.

By David Callihan
I use this with a Squeezebox Touch and it noticeably improves the sound. It is as if a veil has been lifted. The music is noticeably clearer; there is better separation of instruments; and the horns and vocals are stunning.
Equip: Jolida tube amp, streaming FLAC audio files, SB touch, Tyler Acoustic speakers.
